even when you go, you remain
August 28th- Oct 2nd, 2010
Shawn Beeks, Elisha Conrad, Ivette Spradlin, and Lea Donatelli
An empty lot where a building once stood. Moss-covered stones that were once a structure’s walls. An abandoned wasp nest. All of these evidence of life and activity that once was, but does that presence of “what was” remain?
Life leaves marks. Do these marks disappear or just change form? Each artist will explore the idea that even when someone or something no longer inhabits a space that their presence can still be felt through what remains.
Shawn Beeks will approach this question from an illustrator’s perspective using photography with pen and ink. Elisha Conrad will examine this topic using photography, collage, and installation. Ivette Spradlin and Lea Donatelli will collaborate on a project using still photographs animated into video and layered with sound.
